GRANTMAKING AT ACTCOMMUNITY FUND GRANTMAKING > ESSEXThe mission of the Essex Community Fund is to support local needs and opportunities and improve the quality of life in the Town of Essex. The Fund makes annual grants in such areas as Culture and the Arts, Education, Environment and Community Beautification, Historic Preservation and Programs for Youth and Senior Citizens. The Fund also administers two component funds: the Colin W. Fink Historic Preservation Fund and the Charlie Goff Memorial Fund from which annual grants are made. Since the fund's inception, grants totaling nearly $38,000 have been made to the following organizations: Belden-Noble Library, Boquet River Theatre Festival, Lakeside Preschool, Champlain Valley Film Society, Essex Rescue Squad & Fire Department, Essex Community Church, St. John's Episcopal Church, ECHO, North Country Public Radio, North Country SPCA, Town of Essex, Whallonsburg Grange, Central Burt Cemetary, Adirondack Art Association, ReNew and, through the county, to our neighbors in need of assistance to meet winter heating oil expenses. This helps Adirondack Community Trust and ECF administrators to assess the impact of these funds on the community and the people it reaches, in an effort to better serve the region.
