NONPROFIT RESOURCESLINKS TO OTHER RESOURCES
CELEBRATING THE GOOD WORKS NCPR will recognize the work of dozens of nonprofit organizations across the Adirondack North Country with music and conversation, as well as shout-outs to groups hosting special events and parties on this first (annual, perhaps) celebration of the work being done by health, civic, economic, culture, arts, education, environment, and media nonprofits. This broadcast event has emerged from the work of the Adirondack Community Trust, the Adirondack Nonprofit Network (A.N.N., an informal network of leaders from organizations throughout the Adirondacks), and North Country Public Radio, which is serving as the media link for nonprofits across the region. We are celebrating the diversity and depth of contributions made by nonprofits to the quality of life in our communities. THE FOUNDATION CENTER Provides news and research about philanthropy in general, tools for finding funders, and online tutorials for everything from proposal writing to nonprofit management. THE PLANNED GIVING DESIGN CENTER The PGDC provides services designed to assist gift planners in implementing gifts. The website has case studies, articles, news and tools that include an online calculator that computes sample charitable deductions for charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable gift annuities, and retained life estate agreements. INDEPENDENT SECTOR Independent Sector is a leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world. It sponsors research, encourages public policies that support a dynamic, independent sector, and creates resources for staff, boards, and volunteers to improve their organizations and better serve their communities. GUIDESTAR The most comprehensive online database of information on nonprofits across the country, including foundations. NEW YORK SECRETARY OF STATE This website provides assistance to start, expand, or dissolve a nonprofit organization and includes forms, a checklist of considerations for starting or expanding a nonprofit, answers to frequently asked questions, and links to other helpful sites.
