NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP SEMINARS

ACT strives continuously to honor its commitment to nonprofit organizations, providing seminars, trainings, fiscal sponsorship and other resources to help community organizations pursue their missions more effectively. Come learn in an informative, entertaining setting and network with staff and volunteers from other nonprofit organizations serving our region.

One of our signature community leadership efforts of 2009 and 2010 was establishing the Adirondack Nonprofit Network (ANN), an informal network of leaders from nonprofit organizations serving the Adirondack region. ANN's mission is to support and connect nonprofits in their efforts to improve the Adirondack quality of life. The following 2010 SEMINAR is co-sponsored by ANN:

Endowment Basics: Understanding, Positioning and Growing Your Endowment Fund

October 19th, 2010, 10:00 am to 2:30pm
Location:  Heaven Hill Farm, Lake Placid, NY

Beginning in the fall of 2010 and continuing through 2011, ACT will offer a special series of endowment seminars and trainings. ACT, the community foundation serving the Adirondack region, has 50 nonprofit endowment partners. Together we hold, invest and administer $3 million in endowment funds. Having a fund with ACT affiliates your organization with a respected regional public foundation that manages over $23 million in assets. This relationship also provides professional investment management as it diversifies your endowment fund across more asset classes than would be possible investing it individually and typically with lower fees. ACT's pool of funds is invested on a "total return" basis (combining capital appreciation and earned income), designed to lower volatility to preserve the assets in perpetuity.

This seminar will focus on major endowment gift fundraising, planned giving, and attracting new donors and is co-sponsored by the Adirondack Nonprofit Network.

Seating for this session is limited to 38 participants. Priority will be given to organizations that already have a fund with ACT. Beginning September 13, 2010 we will open registration up to all nonprofit organizations. Reserve your space today.

Cost for the seminar is $30 per person or $50 for a team of two.
